The Gentleman Saint

James loved every minute of his social, academic, and athletic life at St. Francis de Sales High School and was the only tennis player in school history to be named 1st Team All State all four years of his career. Through the benevolence of his family, countless friends, teammates, coaches, and fellow competitors a full scholarship endowment has already been funded in his name. Every year a scholarship will be awarded to an SFS student in the memory of James Patrick O'Connell who embodies the generosity, love of life, character, and friendship that made James so special to so many people. In many ways James tried to pattern his life after the teachings of St. Francis de Sales,
